Tending The Steady, Smoldering, Emergent Work of Evolution.

Fire Circle

Untitled design 2.png

Fire Circle is a monthly gathering where we strip away pretense and lean into raw, real conversations and somatic experiences. Here, we confront our edges, reconnect with whatʻs untamed within us, and stoke the slow burn of transformation that builds true resilience.

This isnʻt surface-level activism, or self-improvement work. This is a grounded, embodied practice for those with the desire and audacity needed to create a new way of being, without all the superficial noise that distracts from genuine culture-shifting work.

This isnʻt loud, instagramable, pedestalized work. This is work that is done quietly, tucked away in the understory of the forest. Itʻs done with patience, and devotion. This is the slow, steady, smoldering, emergent work of evolution.

"From the time I met her, I was hooked on the energy Lori carried around her. There was something alive about it. Held. Sacred. Safe. Exploratory. I wasnʻt led through sequences. I was just given space to do what I needed with my body."

IÊ»ve been leading circle for a long time, over the years I've seen how often people craved a space where they could be real - beyond pretense and comfort. Working with the land has reinforced my belief that it is essential to slow down, listen deeply, and hold space for whatÊ»s uncomfortable.

Fire Circle comes from this experience - a place for those ready to move past surface-level living and build real resilience together.

Fire Circle Is For You If:

You feel spiritually adrift, overwhelmed by the noise of daily life or disconnected from your inner wisdom. You're seeking a space to re-root yourself and reclaim a sense of spiritual grounding that isnʻt tied to dogma or superficial rituals.

You are aware of systemic injustices, and want to be a part of cultural transformation, but feel burnt out, overwhelmed, or isolated. You crave a space where you can find genuine support, be held accountable, and build resilience to sustain your efforts.

You can sense your capacity for real change but struggle with self-doubt, fear of judgment, or the internalized belief that your voice or actions wonʻt make a difference. You need guidance grounding your purpose and accessing your inner fire to step into the uncomfortable work of culture building.

You feel deeply, often to the point of being paralyzed by the collective suffering you witness. You want to move from emotional overwhelm to embodied resilience so you can contribute meaningfully without losing yourself in the process.

You are learning to express your needs and boundaries in relationships, navigating feelings of guilt, people-pleasing tendencies, or fear of conflict. You want a supportive space that models and supports asserting boundaries with honesty and compassion.

Each Fire Circle gathering centers around a theme based on the collective needs or emergent challenges within the community. These themes guide the teachings, practices, and discussions, creating a dynamic flow that responds to real-time community growth.

What this means for people signing up to sit in circle: If you donʻt show up and participate, the fire isnʻt tended to, it doesnʻt stay lit. It also means if you show up you will receive all the warmth that circle has to give you.

This isnʻt pre-recorded, fast-food content I create for you to consume. Fire Circle is designed so that you co-create, and assimilate the nutrients this practice provides. This is a creationary, reciprocal, and participatory process.

If you're someone who struggles with allowing yourself to be seen authentically - beyond curated personas and self protective layers - Fire Circle offers a courageous space to practice honesty and reclaim authenticity.

I had a client who came to work with me, someone who is a powerhouse in their field. They do culturally progressive work they love, and own their own business. They arenÊ»t a morning person, but always felt pressured to be social when they stopped for their morning coffee, or to “eat the frog” and tackle their most challenging task when they first got to work. It was wreaking havoc on their sense of stability and peace (and sometimes making them be kind-of an asshole to others, and they didnÊ»t want that).

After several months of 1-1 sessions, and practicing to include simple, yet profound rituals into their morning routine and transitions, they were able to re-pattern this culturally ingrained habit to people please, and began compassionately taking better care of their boundaries.

Guess what? They became a better leader and their work became even more groundbreaking.

Grounding in The Present, Opening To WhatÊ»s Real.

We begin with a grounding exercise to center your awareness and connect you to this moment. The outside world can wait, allow yourself to arrive fully, preparing to step into deeper truths and shared purpose.

Practical Wisdom Rooted In Ancestral Knowing

A focused lesson that introduces the theme, bridging practical insights with reflections that run deep - drawn from lived experience and ancestral wisdom. This isnʻt just knowledge; itʻs a reclamation of whatʻs been lost and forgottton.

Bringing The Teachings Into Your Bones

Experience a practice designed to help you feel, integrate, and embody what we explore. From somatic exercises to guided visualizations, each session invites you to reconnect with yourself and let the teachings land in your body.

Honest Dialogue To Stoke The Collective Fire

We gather around a metaphorical fire to reflect, listen, and speak honestly. Each voice feeds the warmth of the circle, creating space to confront complexity and find clarity in shared experiences.

Closing The Circle But Never The Connection

We end with an intentional closing ritual to anchor this shared experience. Though our time together is complete, the circle remains open - ready to welcome you back to ongoing conversations within Understory in Mighty Networks.

Personal Growth, Collective Impact

Your contributions to Fire Circle directly fund hyper-local projects in our rural Hawai'i community. This means your journey here isnʻt just for you - itʻs part of something bigger, woven into a living web of mutual support and resilience.

If you carry the pressure of doing things perfectly or are afraid of making mistakes, Fire Circle provides an environment that values raw truth and organic growth over perfection.

Sometimes it takes making a long-term commitment to monthly circles to break through this cycle.

Someone who has sat in circle with me many times told me this isnʻt the kind of work they can expect themselves to make happen within an 8 week course. They realized this work happens over years, decades, lifetimes.

They shared that these teachings are like seeds that can be slow to germinate, sometimes it seems itʻs not working because they donʻt see flowers right away, but then they are noticing more about their habits and their life, and have the opportunity to take healthy risks, and be adventurous, and messy with life. These seeds root deep; especially if you are intentional about nurturing them.
