Hi 👋🏼 As promised, I'm back with more wisdom for this Taurus season. Last week I shared a practice with you to help you embrace the stability and pleasure of this beautiful season and this week I'm sharing some of the ways I practice self-care.
Self-care has become a buzzword in recent years, with many people associating it with bubble baths, face masks, and other forms of pampering. While these activities can certainly be part of a self-care routine, true self-care goes much deeper than that.
Self-care is about taking care of your mind, body, and soul in a holistic way. It's about nourishing yourself from the inside out so that you can show up as your best self in all areas of your life. Here are five simple ways you can practice self-care beyond the typical bath and skincare routines:
🤬🥰🧠Pay attention to your thoughts & feel your emotions
It can be tempting to ignore your feelings and/or get swept up in stories about your experiences, but good-vibes only habits lead to repression and stress. Even though it might feel uncomfortable it's deeply nourishing to meet what comes up.
🌿Take a walk in nature
Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and improve mood. Make time for a daily walk or hike to enjoy the benefits of fresh air and sunshine. Even just a few minutes outside can do wonders for your mental and physical health.
🧘🏽♀️Practice intuitive, mindful movement and meditation
Both mindful movement and meditation are powerful tools for reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation. Try incorporating a daily practice to help calm your mind and body. This could be as simple as a few minutes of deep breathing and letting your body move and stretch intuitively.
👯♀️Connect with friends
Spending time with friends and loved ones is a great way to boost your mood and reduce stress. Make time for regular social activities to nurture your relationships, participate in your community and improve your well-being. This could be something as simple as a phone call to catch-up, going to a clothing swap or hosting a game night with friends.
💝Practice self-compassion and gratitude
It's easy to be hard on ourselves, but practicing self-compassion is crucial for our mental health. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, and forgive yourself for mistakes. Cultivating gratitude is also a powerful way to shift your focus to the positive aspects of your life. Make a habit of writing down your "wins" for each day to help you focus on what's good in a world that often feels bad.
Self-care is about more than just bubble baths and face masks. It's about taking care of yourself in a holistic way so that you can show up as your best self in all areas of your life. By incorporating these five simple practices into your daily routine, you can nourish your mind, body, and soul and build the resilience needed for our current reality.

Did you know I'm hosting a fundraiser in celebration of my birthday? I'm working on a project that will not only help control invasive species in Lawa Pono Forest Farm but also contribute to food sovereignty for locals. By supporting this project, you’ll be helping me to harvest, dry, and sell tea made from the invasive Himalayan Raspberry and spreading bamboo. This project is bringing us one step closer to building a thriving, free, community market. You can read more about it and donate here.
Take care and stay grounded, my friends. I'll be back next Monday with more practices to share with you.
♥️, Lori 🌿
